Who exactly are you?
I’m not really fond of writing these things, but I guess no one ever is. I’m almost 25 and I reside on the west coast of Florida and have lived in the actual state of Florida since I was 12. Trust me, it wasn’t my choice, but I got over it. Florida isn’t actually that bad, I prefer the colder months though because I’m one of those jeans and turtleneck kinda girls who likes to drink hot tea and watch the steam billow from the mug. If you ever have the chance try some green tea with lemongrass and ginseng, it’s one of my favorites.

On a more serious note, no my name is not short for anything. I get this question all the time and yes, it really is Jamie, though I sign almost all of my emails “Me,” so I guess that would be the equivalent to a nickname. Speaking of nicknames, my car has one as well and that would be Reebok. My car has always reminded my parents of a “shoe” so that’s what its nickname has been ever since I’ve owned it. I love that damn car.

I’m currently a freshman at a local community college because I was lame and didn’t continue on with my education when I graduated high school, but it’s all-systems-go now. My major is in English Education grades 6-12 and honestly I can’t wait to get my degree. I may wind up just going for my Masters instead of just a Bachelors, but I’m not too sure yet. Why English Education? Because I love the written word! Poe, Shakespeare and even modern day writers like Luanne Rice make me feel like a kid in a candy store. I don’t get to the Library as often as I’d like to anymore, but that’s alright. I’ve got bigger fish to fry…like finally finishing my novel. That’s right, someday I’d actually like to get this thing finished. It’s kind of based on something that happened to me in my past relationship but I’m totally going to write in a great ending. You’ll all just have to wait.

I love animals with a passion and it made some people confused why I wasn’t becoming a Veterinarian. I used to ride horses - a lot, but I stopped when I moved to the west coast of Florida; I guess I just lost interest. I currently have just one animal, my Cockatiel named Birdeo, even though my parents cats seem to gravitate toward me and I can’t figure out why. And yes, I am mooching off of my parents until I can get back on my feet. This past spring I finally freed myself from a really horrible relationship (thank God we didn’t get married!) and I’m really working hard to be my own person.

I love to cook, which is why I have to work extra hard to lose extra weight. I mostly cook pasta’s (and yes, I have the ability to make my own pasta, it just takes a while). I just started planting some of my own vegetables and can’t wait for them to get ripe enough to use. I’ve totally found out that I have a love of zucchini and I plan to use a lot in my cooking this fall. I’m not really a baker, so I can’t really claim that I’m an awesome baker. The ability to create something and enjoy something is a pattern you’ll see a lot from me. Which is why I enjoy crafting (though I haven’t made anything in a while!) and nature/animal photography.

Speaking of nature, I love being outdoors. Even just sitting out on the lanai with a book to read is good for me. I just recently rediscovered bike riding and am enjoying it. I’m hoping to build up my stamina enough to start taking on some trails around here because roads and sidewalks get a little dull after a while. As far as hiking goes, I wouldn’t really call it hiking as much as I would call it walking the trails but either way I enjoy it. One day I’d like to get up to Tennessee or Vermont and walk the mountain trails. To be alone and out in nature, I think that would be my idea of heaven.

All in all, that’s me in a bunch of paragraphs. Gotta question about me? Submit your questions to askATso-crafty.net
