Straight Away

Sunday, October 11th, 2009

This morning was the best, slept in until about 9 or so. Today just feels like a fall day. It’s a completely ridiculous thing to say because the heat index on Friday was 100. Today should be around 93 or so. I wish I got to sleep in more often on the weekends. It wouldn’t have been so bad, except I’m on call this weekend and got a phone call. At least this person waited until a decent hour to call; the last time I got a phone call was at 7 am on a Saturday morning. I was mad, but I grumbled my way through dealing with that call.

So, I’ve invested some money into buying myself a hair straightener (flat iron) after having B’s friend M straighten my hair. My hair is naturally curly and I’ve always dreamt of having that straight hair that just flows. I couldn’t have it before because even with an hour and a half of blow drying my hair, my hair would be just one big pile of frizz. But after having it straightened, it was exactly what I always wanted my hair to be like. And yeah, it flows. So worth it. I also am going to try the new shampoo I bought from Sally’s (Straight Shot Smoothing). I already use their “Noodle Head” product which I absolutely adore. The Straight Shot Smoothing smells like coconut and supposedly prepares your hair for the thermal straightening thing.

I also spent my gift cards in Kohls and then some. Nothing like a mini spending spree to cheer me up. I got a new suede jacket (almost like a pea coat). Tons of sweaters and shirts for work. The problem with going shopping in other states, is that they make their winter clothes heavy. Here, I don’t need heavy sweaters, but they make the thread count lighter or use a lighter material. Even the jeans are thinner – so this makes buying a lot easier. I managed to find a dress at Ross (I didn’t fall in love with it, but it will do just in case I don’t find anything else) and it was a good buy so even if I don’t find anything else, this will do.

More than likely, I’ll be spending my day with the B, perhaps going out to a sports restaurant later and enjoy the Football games (darn, the Bears are on a bi-week)….and as he so eloquenly asked me, “Are you working on your paper?” To him I answered, “No pumpkin, I’m so not working on my paper.” Of course now that I’ve been reminded I can’t seem to find a reason to keep typing this entry when I could be working on that paper.

Except I can’t stop touching my hair (because I love it) and I feel like my girl side has finally kicked in. Sigh. Papers are over rated.
